This Thread is open]Yawn... That was all that could be heard as a one young ethnic man of Asian descent was sitting idly near the edge of the food court, his side facing the grand window span of the entrance. He had to marvel at the design of the mall for a bit, how creatively it was made so that there was many entrances around the mall, including one that went straight to the grand lobby in which the food court was stationed on the level above. It was enough that one can wonder how the brains of such norms can think of such wondrous forms of enjoyment like the mall, and then turn around and make such foolish mistakes like the casualties of war. But, it wasn't really up to him to be judging other people's decisions now was it? Even sly dogs had skeletons in the closet.
Either way, that was not what was causing the young man to be most tired this day. What was really getting to him was the fact that he hadn't been out hanging with his friends in a very long time that it basically turned into a drought of sorts, a real no fun period that was starting to get to him. It was bad enough that his friends had to be out saving the world and doing things unmentionable at this time. He tilted his head forward and gave a sharp knock on the court table, keeping his head down for a while to drown out the consistent roar of the crowd. "Joy."
He made no sudden movements, only keeping his head down but turned it slightly so that he was now looking at the crowd instead of the stark white surface. People walked every which way, some carrying bags, others food, refreshments and the like. Each one of them having a normal day at the mall and only looking towards having normal day at the mall. Lucky for them, they'll always know the enjoyment of having a normal life. A big sigh of disdain, the man brought himself upright, only to slouch against the court seat, his entire posture screaming of slacker. Well, he could get up and buy something to chow down on, but then his muscles started to ache a bit, even his fingers tingled. An even louder sigh of disdain and he let his hand fall loosely by his side.
Then there it was, the rumble of his Rumor that disturbed his pant leg. Reaching into his pocket, he procured a small and slick black cellular phone, a device he took a liking to ever since he lost his I-Phone from his encounter with that one chick in the park and that, thing that wanted to kill them. He couldn't pinpoint their exact names, if names were given, only their faces. He felt a bit depressed that he couldn't remember their names, like he was letting down someone. He let his phone rumble on the table for a while, staring at simple vibrations that cut through the garbled crowd roar, like a knife through foam rubber. "Tch, now you want to call." Flipping the phone on at the switch of a button, he lifted the tech up to his ear, rolling his eyes at the sound of his friends. "Right, guess who's stuck here?" Another press, and the phone was cut off, conversation and all lost. Why he just did such a thing? He couldn't say for sure, but it didn't help that he cut off the only way of escaping this drought. An agitated sigh escaped his throat and he slouched once again. [/blockquote]

“Can I ride it, please? Just to the mall.”
Mei draped herself over the brand new car that sat untouched in the driveway to the restaurant. It looked magnificent, even if it was only a Mini Cooper. To some people in the city, the Mini Cooper was something they wouldn’t be seen dead in, letting their pretentious beings parade around in Ferraris. But to three graduates that car was as close to Ferrari as they were going to get.
Her friend peeled Mei off the car refusing to let her take the wheel, as Mei had her own. Sniffing, she cast a look to the garage, her own Golf she had been bought sitting inside. It was creatively painted red with black spots, resembling the endearing Ladybird. Her shoulders sagged. She hadn’t even made a good argument and she was defeated already.
“Fine.”
Sitting in the car with a face that her two friends obviously found pretty comical, as Mei and unhappy expressions didn’t go well. She drove past the shiny new car that the two were already in, squealing over such accessories that came with it.
Well, it wasn’t that bad. Mei needed to go to the mall anyways. Christmas was always a mad rush for presents, and she would always get stuck in the crowd. It kind of reminded her of Beijing a little…Her eyes drifted to the window and memories flooded back in a sudden wave. Her mind quietly yearned for such memories to be a reality once again. Soon Mei realized she wasn’t paying attention to the road and her eyes soon flicked back to it. Traffic was light. She made it to the mall without so much as an effort and parked up.
Still took her an age to find a space though. As usual. Getting out of the vehicle, she took another look over it, wishing it could suddenly transform into a Mini Cooper. If only. She shrugged into her coat and slung her very distressed and overused leather bag over her shoulder and made her way into the mall, her first port of call being the old coffee shop that shied away from others such as Starbucks. Even if it sold coffee as good as such shops.
Moving back out into the throng of people, she made her way to the food court. It wasn’t that she was hungry, more, somewhere to sit. She was tired. A thunderstorm had hit near the restaurant and its effects still crippled her, though if she were to complain, Mei would only scold herself for selfishness. She wound her fingers round the polystyrene cup, gratefully soaking up its warmth. Mei didn’t fare well in such cold weather.
As she got to the food court, she noticed all of the seats were taken. All of them. Her shoulders sagged once again and she let out a quick sigh. Moving in, Mei wound her body around the chairs with people parked on them, until she found an empty seat. Looking across the table, she noticed someone sitting there, and apologized, before doing a double take.
He was slouched in the chair, an extremely tired but displeased look that shadowed his face, where content expression should be. Mei furrowed her eyebrows. She slowly placed down her cup on the table and bent her back to get a better look, taking in the gloomy presence she felt around her. Biting her lip slightly, she opened her mouth to speak but closed it again, unsure how to approach such an unhappy looking being. Still, she had to speak soon.
”…Are you alright?”

My sanctuary, no longer a sanctuary but now a vast haven for the many who seek refuge from the harsh realities of reality. The mall to those uneducated, was always a place for Kjol to get some relaxation done from the confinements of living in the busiest section of New York. Usually with comfort of friends, today he was given the displeasure of wandering the mall on his own, to fend for himself in this urban jungle. Only hours ago he was planning this perfect rendezvous at one of the many shopping centers in this district, only to have his plans ruined in the blink of an eye. His chilled breath started to slightly shimmer in the sunlight, only faint enough so that people would assume he had just finished a bar of frozen ice cream. Or something to that extent. A minor representation of his mutant gift, too small to take any curiosity to, but enough that Kjol could take some amusement in it's glimmer. He really should do that more often; surprisingly, it's able to waste a few minutes without much effort.
His gaze returned back to it's bored state, taking it's own sweet time to look over the food court for the umpteenth time in the past few minutes. As usual, the holidays were a beacon for the unprepared to join in on one of the most hazardous times of the year, the so called rush hour of shopping so to speak. Parents running around to beat the other parents in reaching the stores holding their child's gift, teenagers taking a slower run on the rush hour though still looking for the same gift's as their elders. It was the same every year in The Big Apple, regardless of the location. Whether it was the mall, or a street shop run by a local, everyone was getting ready for the big day. Then, there was that small margin of people left in the world, those few who didn't have much of a reason to celebrate the holidays, or rather, didn't have anyone to share the holidays with. If his family was really into the Christmas spirit, then maybe Kjol would make an effort to get into it, but for now he would remain still.
Maybe he should get something to drink, maybe some coffee or hot chocolate. He left the Rumor laying atop the table, rummaging through his pockets to find any loose change aside from his wallet. His search was somewhat disrupted when he noticed someone else join in on his little affair. He gave a quick glance over to her direction, taking a few milliseconds to take her appearance into his mind. There were many different assessments he could make on that one glance; she was probably just a random person looking for a seat and took the one closest to the entrance, she found him interesting and decided to walk over to get a better look, or she was lost and needed directions. A quick glance again reaffirmed his first and original assessment, her posture was casual and looked as if it needed a bench to sit on.
He made a quick nod to note her presence, returning to his rummage through his coat pockets. Kjol was determined to find cash to fill his thirst, even if it kept him in the mall the whole day. The search went on for a few minutes until her voice was sound, the chime to disrupt the silence, echoing the rumble from earlier. Her query was a common one, even if it knocked Kjol slightly off his course. His fingers continued moving as he looked back up, locking eyes with the woman. A representation of Chinese beauty at first site, she seemed quite young. Interesting. Kjol looked back at his jacket that was now taken off his shoulders, his hands continuing rummaging through deep pockets. "Yeah, I'm, fine." His voice might sound agitated, but it was only from his lack of good finding skills, not of the addition of audience. Kjol looked once again and gave a small smile, his apparent dislike for his lost money slipping through. "You?"

[Sorry for the long wait, and it's pretty tame in comparison. I promise I'll do better next time. D;] Taking the nod as somewhat of acceptance for her to sit down, she put her cup on the table slowly, to give him time to refuse her a seat. After letting a brief moment of time pass, she slid into the seat, pulling her bag from her shoulder and letting it sag by the seat, pulling it under with her legs. Sure, if it did get taken, she would just run after them but, she couldn’t today, much to her frustration. She looked at the table as she picked up her cup, and eyed up the cell.
”That’s a really nice phone there. Did it cost lots?”
Odd question, but compared to hers, it was like a model. Surprisingly enough, she never really had that much of an interest in technology. Sure she knew the basics, but she always needed help from her friends when her computer refused to work for her, and Mei ending up throwing it somewhere is a sudden frustration. As she took a sip from her cup, she stole a quick glance at him. Asian, but where she couldn’t tell, which was odd for her. She was observative, but she couldn’t quite make him out this time. Looking away to contemplate this, she watched the people push past eachother and the pre-sales in shop windows which constantly reminded her the big day was so close and she hadn’t even thought to buy so much as a bow just yet, let alone presents for the whole family. The thought of it made her want to groan out loud and flop. Plus the fact the restaurant was always so busy.
Looking back as her first question was answered, and wondering if her question was heard behind that uncomfortable expression he wore on his face whilst digging in a pocket for something, she lowered the cup and held it in her lap, French manicured nails winding together round it.
”Im alright I guess, though I haven’t bought anything yet.”
She gestured to the rushing crowd and shrugged. She was good at the last minute dash to the mall on Christmas eve and all that. Though, it was pretty much the norm for the three of them. Grinning as she reminisced about the memories that they shared for the last few Christmases, she watched as he still shuffled around in some pockets, putting on a smile which didn’t seem to fool Mei. Shifting her position, she raised her eyebrows.
”Have you lost anything? Can I help?”
