Name:[/u]
Lucas Jacob Taylor
Nicknames:
Luke, LJ.
Code Name:
Blaze
Age:
18
Gender:
Male
Powers/Special Abilities:
Pyrokinesis
Luke is able to create and manipulate his fire or fire around him at will. The flames under his command can change shape to what he desires. He is able to absorb fire completely, or absorb it to release it in a single attack of his will. This power allows him to be fire and heat proof, so fire does not burn him when coming into contact with him. If long enough in the sun, Luke is able to recharge himself. At Summer, he is at his strongest, but at Winter, he is at his weakest point and suffers somewhat of a depression. Normally, Luke’s body temperature is way over normal, which gives off the idea he is ill to most people, yet stays warm over cold weather. At night or in dark places, Luke has a kind of heat sensory vision, which allows him to see people or objects if they are hidden or invisible.
Pyrokinetic Body[/u]
By engulfing his being totally in fire, he is able to shoot fire in a wide range, and fly for up two hours. This is a power discovered at a later date and often is reflexive if he is in danger or extremely angry. Most things thrown at him catch fire very quickly.
Flight
Luke is able to propel himself high in the air by using his powers in a sudden blast of hot air. Though with more effort, he is able to constantly impel himself using a long blast of fire and hot air, so he can cover long distances, if too long, he would exhaust himself.
Weakness[/b]
As a fire elemental, Luke has weaknesses. His major weakness is the inability to make sparks or fire when he is wet, or, his powers are extremely low levelled if in a constant downpour or submerged in water. Though, if his hands are dry, he is able to use his powers but not use his fire form.
Appearance:
Luke stands at 5”8 with a normal build, slightly muscled due to training to keep up with his powers. He has red hair, which changed when he mutated. He has green eyes and wears an eye patch due to an accident when he was younger, and never takes it off. It works as a harness for his powers as well. Normally, he wears odd clothing, like strange headbands and gloves. Most of the time he can be seen in jeans and general shirts with band names on them or designs. Most of his clothing is scientifically designed to be fireproof, so when he uses his powers his clothes do not get burnt.
Personality:
Luke is easy going and a joker. He is easily able to change a mood in a room or at least lift it. He tends to make friends with an ease due to his cheerful demeanour. He protects his comrades with a very strong vigour, and can get angered quite easily if such are hurt or he is insulted directly about his mutant being. He is very laid-back and slightly lazy, but also can display a lot of energy most of the time.
On the other hand, Luke can be a show off sometimes, displaying his powers too much and getting grumbled at for it. Most of the time he doesn’t notice he is annoying people until they lash out, and then his mood would drop quickly, and most of the time, pick up soon after.
Luke isn’t a fighter. Although rash and has a tendency to run into situations head first, he doesn’t like violence and won’t use it only if told to fighting off mutants or when he is attacked, then he would do his best to get out of a situation.
Like most, Luke is a hopeless romantic and normally gets crushes on most girls, always doing his best to impress them with jokes or by using his powers, although as charming as he is, Luke often fails miserably at it.
Hobbies:
Free running, exercise, eating, sleeping, and using his powers.
Weapons/Equipment/Skills
Luke has a pair of gloves which when he clicks his fingers, creates a spark for him to manipulate at will.
History:
Luke was born in suburban Los Angeles. His father was his businessman and his mother stayed at home. He was a boisterous child who would run about the home and continuously knock things over. He often fell over and hurt himself but it didn’t seem to alter his always happy mood.
When Luke was four, his sister was born. At first he didn’t like the idea because soon everyone came round for his sister, and didn’t pay any attention to him. He would shrink away and sulked until they left. He didn’t get to see the baby, until one night he stayed up and went into the baby’s room to see her. Instantly, he came to his senses and enjoyed the idea of having a baby sister.
As she grew up, Luke was nearly always with her, became protective over her, the typical older brother figure. When he was old enough to go to school, he instantly became the class clown, but it didn’t seem to put anyone off. He soon made friends and his school life progressed as normal.
One day, when Luke was home playing in a pool with his sister, his mother got a phone call from the school. They told her Luke had displayed tell tale signs of a photographic memory. Confused, and doubting that was the idea, she brought Luke inside and asked him how many crabs were printed on the pool. Luke replied with the right answer and his mother was shocked.
When his father came home, doubting it too that Luke could have simply counted them, they took him to a specialist who asked him a series of questions. When they left, the specialist told them that it could be a mutation, but he was of too younger age. Relieved, Luke carried on his normal life.
Half way through high school, his father got a promotion in New York, and so the family had to move. Stubborn, Luke refused to move and had an argument with his family. Storming up to his room, he caught an image of himself in the bathroom mirror. He noticed that at the roots of his blond hair, was red.
Scared, he instantly took to wearing hats all the time. Teachers gave up telling him to take it off and a hat was a permanent fixture to Luke’s appearance. When they moved, eventually to New York, Luke’s mutation progressed rapidly after he began fitting in. School life at New York was different and he had trouble finding new friends.
Soon enough, all of his hair had turned red. He couldn’t hide it anymore so he told his parents who simply told him hair color can differ due to family relatives having red hair. They were worried due to the fact it wasn’t a natural red. After that, his body temperature soared. In the middle of giving his sister a piggy-back, she complained that he was extremely hot. Even though Luke felt fine, his temperature was at an immense 45 degrees.
He was rushed to hospital, complaining that he was fine. The doctor could not find anything wrong with him and couldn’t explain the situation. Afraid, his parents soon tried everything, even making him bath in cold water, which he only heated up.
Still worried, they left it.
Two years passed, and at seventeen, Luke discovered his full powers. He was being told off by a teacher about homework, when he developed a migraine. The teacher carried on and began shouting at Luke. He then shouted back, the papers on his table bursting into flames. Scared, Luke ran from school and let out the pressure. Soon, his whole body was engulfed in flames and he rose from the ground. Surprised, he lost the pressure he was exerting and fell. Luckily he had his gym kit with him and changed into that, running home to tell his parents.
For a while he practiced his powers. Word got round and a gang of anti-mutant activists attacked him. Scared, he tried to fend them off with his powers, but they chose a moment when it was raining. Luke then had to fight them with his hands, but didn’t know and skills and had to rely on his fists. The leader closed in on him with a knife and he took the wound on his face, scratching his eye and blinding it. They soon beat him and left him. Later on, the police found him and he was rushed to hospital. Unfortunately, his eye could not be mended, and it was replaced.. He opted to wear an eye patch to cover the scar on his eyelids, which helped keep a harness on his powers as well as gloves.
They didn’t take it very well, his mutant powers and the sudden beatings, but it explained all what happened. He told them that the school would help him fend for himself in the human world. With no choice, they decided to send him to the Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters.
Role Playing Sample:
”Hey sis, check this out.”
Luke stood at the dinner table, six candles set out at almost exactly the same length apart. He was bent down, eyeing them up, and the spaces between them. When his sister came in the room, holding a dishcloth. She looked odd today, tired, like she didn’t really want to see him, disinterested in his new party trick. Luke’s face fell slightly, but he brushed it off and grinned at her.
Pulling off a glove and pushing up his headband, he lifted his hand and spanned out his fingers, and swept them over the candles, pulling his glove swiftly back on. Lucy snorted and turned her back, toward the kitchen, muttering about how useless he was with his mutant powers.
”Luce!”
She whirled around, ready to tell him off when each candle set alight at once. She raised her eyebrows and looked at Luke, who had his hands up, palms face at her with both gloves on, like it was some sort of police arrest. After she had taken in the candles, Luke stretched out his hands at the table.
”Tadaa.”
Luke’s face fell for a moment when he noticed hers turn real pissed off, but kind of, hurt. She turned again and flounced into the kitchen, Luke swiftly marching in tow, confused.
”Hey, Luce, didn’t you like it, it was neat right? You must have at least been a little but impre-“
She twisted sharply, anger burning in her eyes, fists clenched. It was so swift Luke had to jump back otherwise her waist long strands of bright blonde hair would whip him in the face.
”Why are you the mutant?!”
She snapped, holding the dishcloth so tight it looked like it would tear in half if she became angrier. Lucy had never brought this up, not when mom and dad were around. Taken aback, Luke sighed and ran a hand through his spiky hair, pausing to itch a scratchy part. He couldn’t conduct an answer. To be honest, that was harsh. So, he just stood there, mouth slightly open.
”You aren’t even useful with your powers, you don’t help people attacked by mutants or muggers like Phoenix or Storm, you just sit at home flicking fire on to each of your fingers and perform party tricks with candles! You’re a waste of powers. If I had powers like you, I’d go help people, like a real hero!”
Luke stiffened, taking all this in. He dipped his head slowly, so his bangs covered his expression from her.
”You think that it’s easy being a mutant? Being a freak of nature when you just walk in the street? You think whilst I get spit on, beaten for what I am? And you still think I should just go and help people? I’m not Superman, sis. I can’t do it. You don’t know what it’s like.”
Lucy stood, silent to his words. She chewed her lip and looked around, thinking of her own answer. She wrung the dishcloth in her hands, and looked and ended up staring at the floor. Slowly, she looked up at him, Luke’s head still bowed and spoke.
”I’m…Sorry. I didn’t know…”
Brushing his hair from his face, he pulled a smile across his face with a certain ease. Loosening, he walked over to where Lucy had prepared some food and picked up the potatoes. Walking out of the room to the dining room, scooping some out with his finger, still in the glove which he knew Lucy hated.
”S’ok. C’mon, let’s get some eats, I’m starving.”
”Stop eating the potatoes with your gloves on!”
