Name: Sarah Gem
Nicknames: The Bitch in Red
Code Name: Ruby
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Powers/Special Abilities:
Sarah is a powerful (not Xavier, Jean, or Emma powerful, but powerful in her own right) telepath and telekinetic. She can lift up something about as large as a Volkswagen, or something larger with difficulty.
Appearance: Long red hair usually put back into a ponytail. And true to her nickname, she always dresses in red. Red dresses, red dress suits, red shirts, red pants. Always. She even wears contact lenses to make her eyes red. Only thing she has that's not red is a golden ornament she wears in her hair to make her ponytail.
Personality: On the outside Ruby strikes people as a calm, serious individual. Actually, she's still got quite a bit of her party girl spirit... and is extremely lazy when it comes to her work. She won't do anything other than what's absolutely necessary, and what's on her desk the first of the morning. She has a streak below that, that she inherited from her employer. A slight sadistic streak not quite as big as her boss'. She won't go out of her way to torture an enemy, but she does enjoy causing pain and destruction.
Hobbies: Practicing her telepathy, hitting clubs and bars, going out to clubs and bars ((yes bad joke, leave me alone)), and toying with people's minds.
Weapons/Equipment/Skills Multitasking, and a small hunting knife she hides in her desk, or somewhere on her person.
History: Ruby was born in Los Angeles, California the second daughter Thomas and Janette Gem. Her parents weren't rich, but they were well off. Ruby grew up spoiled, spoiled, spoiled. When she was 5, her parents had another child, another daughter. Her older sister left when she was about 18, and never came to visit. She never knew why, and her parents avoided the question, so eventually she stopped asking. Ruby was ten at the time.
When she turned about 14, Ruby was shopping with some friends, when she realized she'd forgotten her purse in the changing room. She went back to get it, and it slid out from under the door of it's own will. At the time, she'd thought there had been someone in the room who'd pushed it out. Three days later, she woke up with every object in her room floating. She realized what was happening, and thought it was fun.
Over the next 4 years, she developed her abilities, but didn't tell her younger sister or parents. She was having to much fun with them, reading their minds and messing with them, that she didn't want to get caught. At 18, she got accepted to a school in New York City, so she told her parents what she was the night before she left, and went on her way.
Every week her parents sent her money, but whenever she wrote that she wanted to come back, they had some excuse why she couldn't. When she was 19, she bumped into a man on the street. She tried reading his mind to see what he thought of her, and found she couldn't. And apparently, he knew she'd done it. But he wasn't angry... he seemed happy, for some reason. He took her out, and the two became friends quickly.
After a few weeks, she showed him one of the letters from her mother, letters because she could only call them once a month on her phone, and he asked her a question that opened her eyes. 'Why did they repeatedly keep away from her?' From what she'd told him, they'd been attached to her all her life. Why become so distant? She didn't know the answer. He gave her a little money, and she flew back home to ask her parents herself.
When she came, her parents made excuses why they'd been avoiding her, but all she had to do was read their minds to find out the truth. Her younger sister Sam seemed glad to see her, and a quick read of her mind, made Ruby see that she was a mutant too. Her parents were in for a cruel surprise. Ruby mentally slammed the door on her way out.
When she went back to New York, she stopped opening her parents letters, and eventually, they stopped coming. She wanted to punish them. Punish them and all the humans that hated mutants. It took her two months before she ran into her friend again. In truth she'd been avoiding him. He talked to her, and told her about a group and business he was trying to get started. She joined without a second thought.
She dropped out of school, and once he got his business off the ground and into the sky (almost literally) she became his secretary. Now she waits with him... for the time when they can rise up.
Role Playing Sample: "Ugh, you've got to be kidding me..." Ruby muttered, playing with her hair a little while she looked at the 'Out of Business' sign on her favorite club. They'd been open that morning... so she figured that they'd probably been shut down sometime during the day. She did a scan of the building and didn't find any signs of human life. She sighed again. "Now what am I supposed to do on Saturday nights..." she muttered, looking around for another club.
She looked around, and on the immediate left was a strip club. She looked at it for a moment, toying the idea of messing with the perverts in there... like having them pour their drinks all over their pants, or getting their cell phones out of their pockets when they weren't paying attention and calling their wives. She shrugged, didn't feel like gong into the dirty place.
She turned around, and spotted a brand new club, "That place ought to be open for at least a week... I mean... I'm not that bad at choosing places that stayed open...."
